TOMORROW FA VASE FIRST ROUND

SALTASH United have been boosted by the news that highly-rated winger Luke Doddridge has turned down approaches from Liskeard Athletic and Plymouth Parkway.

Doddridge is in the Ashes' squad which entertain Buckland Athletic in the first round proper of the FA Vase tomorrow (3pm).

Steve Sargison (ankle), Sam Hughes (work), Gavin Coulton (hamstring), Stuart Clark (calf) and Richard Maddison (hip) could return for Saltash.

Young midfielder Oscar Bennetts is away with the Cornwall County Youth squad while central defender Lewis Russell could be out for some time after suffering a broken rib.

"It's always tough playing a team from the Western League, especially when it's one of the top sides," said Ashes' boss Stuart Dudley.

"But it's a cup game and anything can happen on the day. "We will approach it with optimism and give it our best shot."

ST BLAZEY face Western League Premier opposition when north Devon oufit Barnstaple Town travel to Blaise Park.

The green and blacks await a late fitness test on Josh Sims' hamstring injury, which has seen him miss the last two games, while central defender Ryan Williams is unavailable.

Manager Bobby Oaten can include defender Joe Smith in his squad for the first time this season as Blazey look to claim a place in the second round and the £900 prize money.

Unlike the FA Cup, the Vase has extra-time available in the first game before ties go to a replay.

PREMIER DIVISION

LISKEARD Athletic will have two new signings in the squad which entertains visiting Tavistock at Lux Park (3pm).

Central defender Gavin Welsh has signed from Launceston, while imposing full-back Duncan Duthie has joined from East division outfit Plymstock United.

Both go into a squad hoping to have central defender James Simmonds back from an ankle injury.

The Lux Park faithful will have their first chance to see new striker Joe Knight in action after the 15-goal former Dobwalls striker made his debut at Bodmin last weekend.

Tavistock have central defender Rikki Allen returning after a 12-month spell out injured. He is joined in the Lambs' squad by Matty David, Jamie Ahearn, Ian Holmes and Joe Carey who all missed last weekend's win over Penzance.

"We have had 14 competitive games in eight weeks and had become jaded. We had lost our cutting-edge. But we have had a good rest this week and are raring to go," said Lambs' boss Ian Southcott.

Villa bosses Mark Bowden and Simon Westlake are without the unavailable Sam Khakbazan who is the only absentee from their squad.

Torpoint Athletic are hoping striker Liam Thornton, who has missed the last three weeks due to a hamstring injury, will be available after training on Tuesday.

He will undergo a late fitness test but one person definitely back is manager Darren Edwards after missing the last three weeks due to work commitments.

PLYMOUTH Parkway, with the exception of the unavailable Sam Hillson, rely on the same squad that travelled to St Austell in midweek for their trip to Penlee Park to take on bottom club Penzance (3pm).

Parkway travelled to Poltair Park on Wednesday only to be faced by dense fog which brought about the postponement of the game shortly before kick-off.

"It was disappointing to make the trip in midweek only for the game to be called off, but to be fair the referee he had no other option," said Parkway boss Wayne Hillson.

Hulme left to go to Parkway at the back end of last season before transferring to Liskeard.

But he is back to his roots and goes straight into the U's in search of a first victory of the season.

Manager Pete Hill has Matt Strickland returning after missing the cup defeat at the University of Exeter and he is joined by Pete Bradley, who returns from holidays while it is hoped Darren Jinks will be free of work commitments.

DIVISION ONE WEST

VOSPERS Oak Villa will want to build on last weekend's Premier Cup victory over Willand when they entertain Cornish visitors Hayle at Weston Mill (3pm).

Manager Stuart Berry's main concern is over the goalkeeping position after losing Ben Hardie to Premier outfit Liverton United.

Matt McDonough stepped into the breach last weekend as the second team were without a game, but Berry is now searching for a new custodian.

Wayne Riley, Simon Parnell, Rob Mann and Cain Chenneour all return as Berry has an almost full-strength squad for the first time this season.
