Ivybridge pair tumble out
LAST year's veteran men's runners up Mike O'Shaughnessy and Alan Donaldson of Ivybridge were knocked out of the Plymouth Tennis Championships 7-5; 6-3 by Mannamead's Chris Shorter and Phil Ticehurst.
Holders Neil Hunt and Tim Randell marched on, beating Whiteford Road pair Steve Kingston and Robert Wenborn 6-4; 6-2.

In the men's singles Patrick Daykin (Hill Lane) took six games off club-mate and defending champion Seb Dartnell in a 6-3; 6-3 defeat.
Dan Jones (Hill Lane), another former winner, beat Stuart Barnes (Devonshire) 6-0; 6-3.
Plympton's Charles Mason lost 6-3; 6-3 to Rory Harries (Mannamead ) and club-mate Lee McMahon went down 6-2; 6-3 to Mike Paskins (St Budeaux).
In the men's doubles, Paskins teamed up with Neil Hunt to beat McMahon and Mason 6-3; 7-5.
In the all-Whiteford Road veterans' ladies doubles match, former winners Linda Trebilcock and Gillian Thomas beat Sarah Brett and Alison Diver 6-1; 6-4.
Nicky Evans and Clare Hutton of Hill Lane also proved too good for Margaret Banyard and Josie Debnam of Mannamead (6-3; 6-2).
