Ivybridge U11s...42 Kingsbridge U11s...14

IVYBRIDGE produced a powerful first half display to see off the challenge of Kingsbridge.

The Bridgers were fired up as they went out and they took the lead within four minutes when Lewis Barnaby scored the opening try.

Mitch Pinkus, in his first game back since having his appendix out, added the conversion.

Lloyd Vosper then set up Callum Payne for the second try, which Pinkus again converted.

Man of the match Zach Jordan added a third touch down and converted.

Davies added a fourth try and Pinkus a fifth, both of which were converted.

Ivybridge were well away but Kingsbridge hit back before the break with a try and conversion.

Barnaby added another score straight after the interval, but Kingsbridge had the last word of the game with a second converted try.

Stonehouse Sharks U7s...8 Brixham U7s...8

THE Sharks and Brixham played out a thrilling draw at Stonehouse Creek.

Stonehouse opened the scoring with a try from Samuel Beneteau.

By half-time two more scores from Beneteau, alongside one apiece from Harrison Truswell and Aaron Duffield, meant the Sharks went in with a 5-4 lead.

After the break both teams entertained the crowd with a fantastic display of running rugby.

The half included three more tries from Beneteau and four more for Brixham.

Despite having a try disallowed in the dying seconds the teams deserved to share the spoils.

THE hosts were slow to get going and were caught napping when Brixham went in for their first score.

Some good tagging from Stonehouse then paid dividends when, from the turnover, Callum Preece got one back.

Brixham then scored from the restart, before the Sharks had a try disallowed for Harry Winter with incorrect grounding.

More fine tagging in defence by Harry Stewart, Connor Freeman, Ollie Hill and Jamie Williams saw the Sharks on the attack once more.

But, after going into touch near the try line, Brixham ran the ball back the full length of the pitch to score on the stroke of half time.

From the restart Stonehouse tried to force the match but costly errors led to Brixham scoring twice in quick succession.

The Sharks regrouped well and showed how they were developing as a team with a great move that saw Callum Burge pass to Winter who in turn fed Hill to get a try.

Unluckily for Stonehouse this spurred Brixham on and, although Freeman and his team defended like Trojans, they eventually ran out of steam conceding four more scores before the final whistle.

Both sides' coaches agreed the score didn't reflect the efforts both sides put in and in Stonehouse's case there was a marked improvement on their overall team performance compared to previous weeks.

IN A second fixture, to allow other players a run out, the hosts loaned a couple of players from Brixham and immediately welcomed them with some good handling before being tagged for the final sequence, handing the ball back to Brixham.

Brixham then did likewise and, after a bit of 'cat and mouse' with both defences standing out, it was the guests who got the first score of the half.

The Sharks responded immediately with a try from a loaned player (Henry), before Brixham took the lead once more.

Burge then went through after some good interplay from Kieran Woodward and Dylan Woodward to level the scores again.

Brixham then displayed excellent skills with their off load in the tackle to go in at half time 4-2 up.

After the break Stonehouse regrouped and completed a good sequence of tags but were unable to stop Brixham bagging three more scores.

However they never conceded defeat and some good interplay saw Dylan Woodward and Freeman combining with Burge to send Mitchell Lawson over in the corner for the final score of the game.

The spectators agreed that both sides played in the spirit of the game and entertained them with some attractive rugby in glorious conditions.
