James Brent 'sorry' for Plymouth Argyle's struggles
OWNER and chairman James Brent has issued an apology to the Green Army for Argyle's poor results this season.
The Pilgrims narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League last term and Brent had high hopes for better fortunes this time around.
But Argyle are languishing in a lowly 23rd position in the table after a 4-0 defeat away to Port Vale on Saturday.
New manager John Sheridan will take charge of the team for the first time when the Pilgrims play Morecambe at Home Park on Saturday.

Brent said: "I would like to offer sincere apologies to our fans for the very troubled first half of the season we have had.
"We had genuine expectation we would be sited in a different part of the table than we are at the moment."

“Apology accepted. Maybe Brent should think about doing what Morecombe did on Tuesday i.e. let everyone is for free for one game and give season ticket holders a credit? Obviously PAFC would take a hit but it might create the necessary feel good factor and lift that everyone needs at the moment.”

“The initiative they have put in place of buy 2 get a 3rd match free is probably the only option they currently have with regards reducing match ticket prices. Like every other club Argyle rely on season ticket holders money coming in pre-season and will not want to disgruntle any of them by reducing tickets anymore than they have. Its a tough choice but the season ticket holders will always come first and thats only fair and as for opening the Mayflower Terrace that will cost money aswell. Due to health and safety issues so that is a definate no go too as its quite obvious that money is tight at the moment. I agree £20 is ludicrous for the "pleasure" of watching the tripe we have witnessed this season however (and yes ive been to every home game) but i think its pretty standard across the league, despite it being Division 4!!!!”

“Apologies are meaningless without action. A new manager is a step in the right direction but this club has lacked experience from top to bottom for over a year now. Still we have no CEO, PR has been an utter shambles and the club is overrun with superfans thinking they're more important than they are.
Actions not words please.”

I have never met you, but you do seem to be a very genuine person
The departure of Carl Fletcher was well overdue, however, I can full appreciate you wish to give him every opportunity to change the fortunes of the club.
The appointment of John Sheridan as the new manager is a very positive step and I wish him great success in his new role.
With attendances being insufficent to enable the club to "break even", has the "opening up" the Mayflower terracing to standing only, casual supporters been given any thought? With the club in the Football Leagues lowest tier, a enterance fee of £10 per game until the end of the season would surely encourgage additional support. I must admit, I am one of the "stay away" supporters, who have been deterred by the poor quality football in recent seasons, but wlling to give Plymouth Argyle support once again, but at a price more suitable for the product currently being served.”
