A BARNSTAPLE jewellers is holding a sale to celebrate its 40th anniversary in the town — and one item in particular is causing quite a stir.

As well as the usual array of diamonds and gems, Rossiter and Sons jewellers on Barnstaple High Street has recently taken delivery of a museum-quality, 12-carat Tanzanite diamond pendant worth more than £22,000.

Manager Nick Guy said: "The pendant is undoubtedly the spectacular centrepiece of the sale — it is truly stunning.

"It is similar to the necklace worn by Kate Winslet in the film Titanic and is by far the most expensive item we have ever sold here in Barnstaple. We're hoping we will see a lot of interest in this piece."

As well as the Tanzanite centrepiece, other jewels starting from £800 will go on display as part of the sale which starts on Saturday, October 24.
