Transferable skills are the abilities, attitudes and competencies that we have gained from our lives and work that we can use in other areas.
An example of a transferable skill could be a parent who has been at home for four years raising a family; they will have developed budgeting skills, networking skills, time management, etc.
Other skills may be from work. Have you been trained on a specialist piece of equipment or on an IT system? If you have, it is likely other firms may use similar equipment and need someone with your abilities.
There are many skills which you will need to have or to develop to work in almost any organisation and there are others which are specific to the industrial sector.

To work in construction you may need to be able to demonstrate your:
Communication skills.
Physical ability.
Trade skills.
Health and Safety awareness (CSCS – Construction Skills Certificate Scheme).
Prior knowledge or experience.
