MANAGER John Sheridan is aiming to add two more new players to his squad at Plymouth Argyle this week.

Sheridan admitted he would put special emphasis on bolstering his attacking options.

Forward Warren Feeney suffered an ankle injury early in the vital 2-1 victory over Morecambe at Home Park on Saturday and had to be substituted.

Argyle will have to wait for medical checks to find out the full extent of the damage.

Sheridan had already seen striker Nick Chadwick ruled out by a six-match suspension after he was sent-off in the 4-0 defeat at Port Vale the previous Saturday.

Feeney was replaced by 17-year-old Tyler Harvey in only the eighth minute of the game against Morecambe.

The newly-appointed Pilgrims boss knows he needs to boost the firepower at his disposal as Argyle fight to escape relegation from the Football League.

Murray and experienced centre-back Guy Branston made their debuts against Morecambe.

Sheridan said: "I'm hoping I will get two more players. Defensively, we need another body and I have got to look at attacking players.

"Chaddy is out for five more games, I have got Warren out, and Tyler is a young kid.

"I like him (Harvey) but is he the right player to get us out of this position? I have got to be careful with him. I will sit down and have a think, but I'm definitely going to try to get two more players."

“So why did he start Feeney last week?”

“OMG, you guys amaze me. Do you think Sheridan doesn't realise how useless Chadwick and Feeney are? It's a fact, why are you still debating it? 2 seasons of woeful scoring speaks for itself.

Encourage the man to get somebody in who can do a job for us at Southend. Get the new guy in time to at least meet the team before they kick off. Preferably in time for a bit of a kick a kickabout on the training ground first.”

“I would say yes he does hold it up when its played to him and not at head height and he draws lots of fouls, scoring is not been good, but neither has anybody around him. I agree I would like to see a prolific goal scorer of course I would. But as for calling him a conference league player, I dont think so, I think he would do better in a better team. As far as goal scoring is concerned we all know its been pathetic, running like a jack russel does help if you have players around you who can pick up the scraps you create, but does he miss a load of sitters, no because we dont create any. OK he missed a penalty.”

    “@Sidelinesam
Although I agree with you that a hard working forward like Feeney worries and unsettles defences, but he is a forward and as such should be scoring at least some goals. Ask yourself what his goals/appearances ratio is or whether he holds the ball up or lays it off for his forward partner? Running about like a demented Jack Russell is all very well but it's goals that win games.”

“C'mon Sheridan, it's Tuesday already. Don't leave it until the last minute again before enlisting this week's additional help. Give the guys a chance, and at least a couple of days on the training ground to gel together as a team - We don't need individuals, we need a solid team.”

“I think a lot of people have got it wrong about Feeney, I bet if you ask the defenders who play against him they hate it! The guy gives 100% plus and unsettles defences big time. Who ever said he was bought to score goals, there is a lot more too the guy. He is as good as anything else they have out there, or as bad, depends which way you look at it., Why doesn't Wotton take as much stick, you cant tell me he is good enough.”

“I am afraid that Feeneys best is probably Conference standard.Willing to have a bet with you Plymgeorge - you say what you think the new manager will get out of the guy as regards goals or direct assists for goals or whatever criteria you think is reasonable and I will have a wager with proceeds going to charity that he wont achieve it this season.”
