COMEDY is the catch of the day at the Leaping Salmon next week.

Johnny Kats pictured above, headlines at the monthly Laughing Stock night at the Horrabridge pub on Thursday.

He's rated by Comedy CV as "a talented and energetic performer with an arsenal of impersonations".

Also on the bill is Steve Carlin "an intriguingly different voice" mixing the surreal with nerdy obsession", according to one reviewer at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Tom Glover "flawlessly funny and a great professional" (Edge Comedy) and Mina Znaidi complete the line-up with the MC Paul Dennis "not for the faint of heart" (Comedy CV).

Laughing Stock's Catherine Barnes is hoping for more great things after last month's sell-out debut at the new venue. "We were pleased to welcome back regulars who attended our events when we ran them at venues in Tavistock, as well as a number of people who had never seen live comedy before, or assumed that it's only possible to see great-stand up acts at city venues," she said. "The feedback we had from our audience, was phenomenal – and the comedians were delighted by the reception they got from the West Devon crowd."

Doors open for the comedy and curry night from 6.30pm, with the show beginning at 8pm.
