ALBION have released young utility back Sam Jones.

The former Ivybridge Community College pupil signed for Albion in the summer, but has made just two starts for the club.

His only appearances for Plymouth have come in the British & Irish Cup, away at Rotherham and Aberavon.

Jones is joining ambitious National Three South side Newton Abbot, who also recently signed prop Kyle Mason from Albion.

With Albion no longer having a development side, it is hard for coach Nat Saumi to keep young players happy.

"Sam has been training really hard, but he has not been getting any game time," said Saumi.

"This is a chance for him to play a lot of rugby for Newton Abbot.

"He is still raw and the Championship is a high level. He just needs more game practice."

Meanwhile, Albion could be without England Under-20 players Luke Cowan-Dickie, Jack Arnott and Henry Slade for their vital league match against Moseley on January 26.

That match falls just five days before England open their Under-20 Six Nations campaign against Scotland at Brickfields.

Slade and Arnott were not available for tonight's match as England had a backs session.

Albion head coach Nat Saumi would not be drawn on the question of whether they would be available for the Moseley match.

When asked Saumi said: "For the time being I am not sure what we are going to do.

"I am just trying to focus on this week. I just need a good performance for the club and the supporters of Plymouth."
