Since tickets went on sale on Saturday, more than 350 have been sold.

Mr Conley urged theatre-lovers to fill the remaining seats for the show.

He said: "I have met Lola a number of times over the last week, and she is such a sweet and beautiful girl.

"Her story really is quite heartbreaking and she is such a deserving cause.

"Thank you to everyone who has bought tickets so far to our charity evening on Tuesday.

"There are still tickets available so please come along and show your support, and I will personally ensure you have a fantastic evening."

Lola is one of only 60 children in the UK living with the genetic disorder which causes progressive disability and premature death.

Children with A-T are born apparently healthy but from around two years old their balance and co-ordination deteriorate. Most will use a wheelchair regularly by the age of 10 and within a few years need full-time care.

People with A-T rarely live beyond their early 20s.

Mr Conley, who has two daughters, has organised the charity event with theatre staff.

The night will see performances from some of the Oliver! cast members including Jack Edwards, Iain Fletcher and Cat Simmons.

To ensure costs of staging the performance are kept to a minimum, around 30 staff members at the Theatre Royal have also offered to work for free.

A Theatre Royal spokeswoman said: "We've had a wonderful response since tickets went on sale. It will be a fantastic show for a very worthy cause and we are all looking forward to the night."

A Charity Night with Brian Conley and Friends from Oliver! will take place at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday, September 4 after the curtain has fallen on the evening's production of Oliver!

Tickets are on sale from the Theatre Royal at £20 each.
