Karate kid Chantelle ahead of the game
IVYBRIDGE karate player Chantelle Hill (above) is ahead of the game after earning her second dan black belt at the age of 13.
Ivybridge Community College student Hill faced a tense, five-hour wait before taking her exam.

But she held her nerve and passed at a Karate Union of Great Britain grading in Lichfield, Staffordshire attended by 200 players.
Hill, of Tsutahashi Shotokan Karate Club in Ivybridge, was training every other day in the build-up to the 25-minute exam, which tests technique and one-on-one fighting ability.

Players cannot take their third dan exam until they are 21.
Tsutahashi Shotokan fourth dan Neil Rowley said: "It takes dedication and a minimum of three years to achieve your black belt, which Chantelle did at 10-years-old.
"To obtain second dan at 13 is quite an achievement, especially as during her training she managed to win the Devon championships and was a finalist at the UK Karate Kid competition."
Rowley added: "The future for Chantelle looks bright. I am hoping next year she will try out for the England squad in Liverpool."
