PLYMSTOCK Cricket Club's Heather Knight is dreaming of competing in the 2013 Women's Cricket World Cup after being called up again by En gland.

The 18-year-old has already represented the ECB Academy, scoring both a century and a half-century last August against a Europe Select side.

Now, Knight has been named in the England Women's Academy squad to take part in a High Performance Camp in India next month.

Knight has been chosen as one of just 13 players to head to Bangalore to work on her game with the aim of going on to play for the full England side.

And Knight is hoping she will be a fixture in the national side and ready to make a big impression in the 2013 World Cup in India.

"I am really pleased to have been selected for the camp in India," said Knight.

"It is a good opportunity for me and a chance for me to enjoy a new experience.

"We will play one or two games against local sides and we will train a lot too, so there will be plenty of chances for me to work on my game further.

"Hopefully, if I can keep progressing, then I will get to fulfil my dream of playing in the 2013 World Cup.

"That is what I am aiming for and the tour which is coming up is all part of my development and my bid to play for the England side."

Knight and her England Women's Academy colleagues will meet at the National Cricket Performance Centre based at Loughborough University for four days before departing for Bangalore on March 16, where they will stay for 10 days.

The young players are perceived to be the best crop of young players in the country.

Paul Shaw, England's high performance manager, said: "It was important to the selectors and the coaching staff to make sure we have got the best high potential players from around the country at this point in time.

"These are the best players coming through. It's a very young squad but they are the most high potential that we feel will go on and play for England.

"We will give them every opportunity to make that happen."

Shaw said India was chosen as a destination for two reasons – it is the venue for the next World Cup in three years time and will provide a stern examination for his young charges.

"India will give them the best chance to be exposed to a number of different experiences – the environment, the culture, the conditions," he said.

"The environment that India brings is so important for our players and their development.

"With the World Cup coming up in February 2013, what a fantastic opportunity to develop our players ready to be called upon if needed by their country."
