LIVE: Lee Mill incinerator plant plan to be discussed by council

Plans for a waste incinerator and process plant in the South Hams are being discussed by Devon County Council today.

Plans have been submitted to build a facility at New England Quarry, south of Lee Mill, off the A38 near Plymouth.

    I only wish I lived under the council control of Devon County and not the pathetic wimps who voted for the incinerator in Plymouth”

    Why the need for two incinerators then? If the one in Devonport is twice the size it needs to be for the whole of South West Devon, so it has plenty of room to import waste from commercial and industrial sources as well, then how can a second incinerator be justified?

    It sounds like big business seeking big profits to me.

    Langage farm leads the way with a more sensible approach to turning waste into power and recycling the remainder. Improved recycling would knock the UK waste figures for six anyway.

    Once the EU finally decides that the ash from incineration is not 'inert' and the cost of disposal goes up and up just watch big business scurry to find something other than incineration so they can keep their profits high.”

    “Great go ahead we need to get rid of rubbish and this looks like the right place and way to go.
    You will always get the nimby`s we will all benefit from the plant so do it.”
