FIREFIGHTERS are working to stop a large quantity of diesel pouring into drains and watercourses after black Citroen car and HGV collided on a B Road.

Two crews from Kingsbridge and Salcombe were sent to the B3196 between Loddiswell and Wrangaton at 10.59am today.

The fuel tank of the HGV, a blue tipper truck with a 200-litre tank, had ruptured and what crews describe as a 'sizable' amount of diesel fuel was been discharged onto the roadway.

Crews requested that the enivornmental unit from Ivybridge was mobiliised.

At 12.14pm crews were said to be making steady progress to stop the remainder of diesel entering the drains and watercourse.
