By registering on the new-look site you can upload your own articles, pictures, events and comments as well as opting in to get a daily newsletter.

thisisplymouth digital publisher Neil Shaw said: "The new design is clean and clear, allowing you to find everything you want to know more quickly and easily than ever before.

"We update the site 24 hours a day, seven days a week and with more content than ever before we know it is vital to make the site as easy to use as possible."

Businesses who register can claim a free listing in our business directory where they can tell people all their basic information and people will be able to rate and comment on services.

There is then the option of upgrading from £15 per month to be able to provide more information and have greater control over your listing.

Contact Sam Owen on 01752 765508 or email sowen@swmg.co.uk for business directory information.

Everyone from schools and charities to sports clubs and am-dram groups can register at www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/register to tell Plymouth and the world about their latest events, news and activities.

The new design follows the recent launch of our new mobile-friendly version – built to bring you all the same news and information in a design accessible from all modern mobile phones and tablets – which you can see at m.thisisplymouth.co.uk

Further improvements are set to be added to the homepage in the weeks and months ahead with new apps in production so you can get hold of Plymouth news, sports, what's on listings and all our commercial content however you want – whenever you want.

The site is now visited by about 500,000 unique visitors every month from across the world, who look at millions of pages of content uploaded by The Herald and by you, The Herald's readers.

Visit www.thisisplymouth.co.uk to see the new design and let us know what you think.

“I do believe they have learned to use Spellchecker. Perhaps they have all done their ECDL.
But the website is still naff.”

“So you changed a font or two. This is hardly a redesign, is it? Same rubbish navigation, same pageload issues.”

“Still hangs for ages between pages at times and updating a comment is a 'hit and miss affair'.”

“logicaltim - I agree. It seems the headlines are limited to two lines of text, but usually it is cut off after only one ore two words on the second line. There appears to be no reason why this needs to be the case, as there is plenty of room for a few more words on line 2, which often makes the difference between finishing a headline and leaving it with a ... for no apparent reason. Please sort this out!”

“Haven't fixed the commenting problem tho... Whenever I try to make a comment, the screen greys out and I get a box saying 'Validating Comment', that just stays there for ages! I have to refresh the page and try several times before it works.”

“Nice idea and improvement to the site. Just one point, and it may be just me who thinks this, but I would prefer to see the whole of the headline for each story rather than just a few words.............

    Just saying!”
