League leaders Mount Gould show no mercy to Horrabridge
DIVISION ONE
LEAGUE leaders Mount Gould continued their flawless start to the season with a convincing 6-0 win over Horrabridge Rangers.
They led 2-0 at half-time through Dean Ogden and Bradley Swiggs, and ran riot in the second half, with superb goals from Sammy Khakbhazan and Paul Jago, and from substitutes John Hajyianni and Lee Doncaster.
Lee Moor played hosts to Ordulph Arms, and found themselves 2-0 down through goals from Ashley Woodrow, and Ross Sherell.
However, Lee Moor battled back with substitute Brady Coke and Mark Lung on target.
Roborough A have emerged as potential title challengers, and won 5-0 against Manadon FC.
The home side raced to a 3-0 lead at half-time through strikes from Wayne Cornish, Chris Comber and an own goal. Substitute Dan Canham added a fourth before goalkeeper Matt England rounded off a 5-0 win from the penalty spot.
Elsewhere, Ivybridge Town gave another impressive display in their 6-5 triumph at home to Western Mortgage Services. Chris Edwards (2), Chris Watmore, Henry Speare, Ritchie Thomas and Mike Cornew netted the crucial goals for the home side.
Matt Thompson (2), Rob Mann, Adam Gerth, and Mark Weeks replied for WMS.
DIVISION TWO
PLYMPTON FC claimed their first win of the season with a 3-1 win away to Café Roma.
The visitors were gifted their first through an own goal after a goalkeeping gaffe, and Adam James added a further two.
Roma mustered a last minute consolation through Tom Lavis, yet they remain sixth.
Chaddlewood Miners OB versus Roborough FC B lived up to its billing as a closely fought game.
Goalless at half-time, the defences were on top, although an error from the away side's goalkeeper gifted the Miners the lead, with Lee Dare taking advantage.
Lewis Maddock, with a left foot drive, and Chaddlewood captain Scott Parsons won Chaddlewood the game.
Gary Penberthy scored a consolation to finish the game 3-1.
Young Miners centre-back Jack Philpotts was praised by his manager for a great debut performance.
Both Yelverton and University of Plymouth B remain winless after playing out a 2-2 draw.
Jamie Campbell and Ricky Stevens were on the scoresheet for Yelverton, while a towering header from James Stacey coupled with a scrappy second made it all square.
Windsor Car Sales won comfortably on their travels against Yealm Old Boys.
A Christian Evans hat-trick made all the difference in their 6-2 win, with Richard Hill netting a brace along with a John Sheerin finish.
Alan Austin and Dean Carns replayed for Yealm, who were left to bemoan the fact that they were missing several players.
DIVISION THREE
COFELY leapfrogged Stonehouse Glass after coming away with a 2-1 win.
Despite Nick Hubber scoring, Stonehouse were overturned in a tight encounter.
Plymouth Hope failed to drag themselves from the foot of the table as they suffered a fifth successive defeat at the hands of The Railway Club, who have made a mixed start.
James Ritchie (2), Jamie Rose, Ian Crowley, and a 30-yard drive from Kev Nicholson settled it for Railway. Hope's Benjamin Ozanne's made it 5-1.
Wembury Rovers thrashed Chaddlewood Miners OB A 4-0 in the remaining fixture. John Winters (2), Ryan Pott and Russell Ellis got the goals, but Tony Biddell was instrumental with three assists.
ACTIVE ALARMS GEORGE GILLIN TROPHY
CHARD UNITED triumphed 3-2 over a Staddiscombe Colts side in the opening round of the George Gillin Trophy.
Mark Slade scored twice for Chard, one of which was direct from a corner, but goals from Andy Milne and Kurt Wood took a topsy-turvy game into extra time, where a Adam Kellaway penalty took Chard through.
Morley Rangers A edged past a spirited Hooe Rovers. They went 1-0 down on 15 minutes when Tom James scored, but playmaker Dean Vinnecombe set up Ryan Hodgkinson and Freddie Short to take Morley through.
Wessex Rangers took on University of Plymouth A, where a Ricky McGregor-Jones goal on the stroke of half-time was enough to see Rangers into the second round.
DCFA SENIOR CUP
SHAKESPEARE progressed to the second round of the Senior Cup, beating United Services Mermaid 3-2 in dramatic circumstances.
The home side, a division lower than their opponents, seemed to be in control after two brilliant Adam Bance goals from outside the box.
However, Mermaid clawed it back to 2-2 courtesy of Lee Cameron and Liam Ellis.
Dan Knight regained the lead for Shakespeare with five minutes to go, and United Services missed two penalties in the last few minutes, with winning goalkeeper Lewis Choke to thank for saves from Cameron and James Dyer.
DCFA INTERMEDIATE CUP
MORLEY RANGERS B made it into the second round after comprehensively beating All Nations 6-1.
However, it wasn't until Nations took the lead that Morley clicked into gear, with goals from Paul Greenway and Andrew Mannel either side of the interval. A Mike Honeywell hat-trick and Joe Scott completed the rout.
Finally, Vospers Oak Villa made the transition from league to cup with consummate ease with a resounding victory over University of Plymouth C.
A trio of goals from Morten Willmot accompanied by finishes from Wayne Powney, David Evans, Nick Cotton, and Austin Beeney made it 7-0 to Oak Villa.
