Leave car behind and enjoy the show
WITH more than 5,000 people descending on the Royal Citadel
every night, and only limited parking available, the organisers
-

of Music of the Night are recommending that people either walk
in from the city centre or use the park and ride service.
They are also recommending that people arrive early and
enjoy some of the pre-show entertainment on offer.
PARKING
Parking in the streets around the Royal Citadel is
restricted, so if you are travelling to the show by car, you
will need to head for the city centre car parks and then walk
up.
There is a limited amount of car parking available on the
Hoe Promenade and organisers are offering this to disabled car
users. Disabled car parking places are free, with any remaining
space on the Hoe charged at £3 per car.
St John Ambulance staff will be on hand on the Hoe Promenade
to assist disabled patrons if needed.
PARK AND RIDE
Local transport company Target Travel has stepped in this
year to offer a park and ride service. They will be operating
out of two sites – from Milehouse on Outland Road and Coypool
at Marsh Mills.
This special park and ride service will run each night for
MOTN, from 6pm on Tuesday July 15 to Saturday 19 only, with
buses leaving both sites at 10 minute intervals.
At the end of the show, Target Travel will have buses
waiting at the Citadel to return you to Milehouse and Coypool
and the service will continue until all patrons have left the
Citadel.
Tickets will be £2 per adult, return or single, and
children's tickets will be £1 each, return or single (for 16s
and under).
PRE-SHOW ENTERTAINMENT
Get there early to Music of the Night. There will be
security bag checks on entry, so allow enough time for
these.
The gates to the Citadel will open at 6pm each evening, with
plenty to enjoy inside if you want to arrive early and soak up
the pre-show atmosphere. The performance will start at 8pm
prompt.
Hospital Radio Plymouth will be running its show stage each
night, featuring a variety of live entertainment. Alongside the
bar, the show stage will provide plenty of music and so there
is the opportunity to sit down and relax with a drink, or two,
before the show.
Special guests of 29 Commando Regiment, the Cape Field
Artillery Pipes and Drums from South Africa, will also perform
each night before the show.
CATERING
The main marquee bar at the Citadel will offer a full range
of drinks and there will also be a Magners cider bar open. Bar
will be open before the show, during the interval and after the
show until 11.15pm.
Don't worry about feeling hungry if you've had to rush to
the show – there is a full range of hot and cold drinks,
freshly baked baguettes, pastries and pasties, burgers and
sausages, and a hog roast available. There are also
strawberries and cream, candyfloss and sweets. Langage Farm
will be on hand with local ice cream and will be donating 10p
for each one sold to Help For Heroes.

“It was the first time we had gone to the "music of the night" in the Citadel but the evening was spoilt for me by the use of a donkey as a prop.
Circus are not allow to use animals now so why theatrical productions excempt. It added nothing to the show in fact it distracted because of the pity felt for the obviously frightened animal.”
