THE parents of a two-year-old boy who almost died of severe pneumonia and septic shock say he has made a full recovery.

Sam Hall is said to be doing 'fabulously' after recovering from the potentially deadly illness. He spent ten days on life support in an induced coma after being struck down with flu-like symptoms in May.

He took a turn for the worse and was rushed to Derriford Hospital before being moved to Bristol Children's Hospital.

Describing his son's "amazing" recovery, dad Keith said: "We were expecting them to say there had been some damage done because he had been so poorly.

"The final X-ray showed it almost seemed as if he hadn't been ill, we were amazed."

Mr Hall praised the support received for himself and wife Louisa by Ronald McDonald House, which provides free accommodation for families of sick youngsters at Bristol Children's Hospital.

"The house was a God send for us when Sam was admitted," said Mr Hall.

"When you are a long way from home it provides comfort and shelter when you need it most.

"We owe these wonderful people and their staff so much and with everyone's help we can assist other parents in the future to make a difficult time a little more easier."

The Kings Tamerton family are now pledging to raise £10,000 for Ronald McDonald House with a series of events around the city.

The first is being held on Friday, October 1 at Saltram Social Club, Salisbury Road, and will include a sponsored head shave, karaoke and music from six different acts.

The event will take place from 7pm to 11.45pm.
