Lopped locks will make wig for seriously ill child
A COMPASSIONATE woman has had her hair snipped off to be made into a wig for seriously ill children.
Emily Burnell, aged 32, had 14 inches of her locks cut off at the Cutting Garden Hair Salon in Mayflower Street, to be sent away to the Little Princess Trust.

HAIR WE GO: Emily Burnell has 14 inches of her hair cut off for The Little Princess Trust at The Cutting Garden hair salon, Plymouth, by Heidi Smith
This charity collects hair to be made into the best possible quality wigs for those suffering cancer treatment which makes hair fall out as a result, and also those with alopecia.
Emily, who lives in Glastonbury but went to school with Katherine Lee, managing director of the hair salon, said: "This was my new year's resolution in 2007 after reading an article in a magazine about donating hair to make real wigs.
" I understand how important hair is to looking good and boosting self-esteem. I felt ready to get my locks cut off for this amazing charity!"
Ms Lee said her friend felt nervous just before her bonce was bobbed, but was pleased with the outcome. The salon cut the hair for free and also threw in a hair colouring.
Ms Lee added: "She's a natural redhead anyway, but walked away with violets and other red shades and it looked great. We felt privileged to help Emily fulfil her resolution to aid such a deserving charity."
Emily has raised over £200 in sponsorship so far from friends and family.
She said: "My family and friends can't believe I've done this but have been generous and think it's a wonderful idea."

“Oh my goodness, Emily that is mad! After 2 years of growing it for the Little Princess Trust and now thinking about going to absolutely nothing!!!! And as for Hollie, I might have to have words with her. However right behind the two of you, what a wonderful sacrifice for such a fab charity.”
