PLYMOUTH Citybus has given St Luke's Hospice in Plymstock a cheque for £1,000.

The bus company collected the money by charging members of the public £1 to collect their lost belongings.

In total the recovery of lost and found items has raised £1,000 for the local charity.

Ruth Quick, travel care supervisor at Citybus presented the cheque to Lorna Baker, corporate fundraiser at St Luke's on Thursday.

Ms Baker said: "We owe the staff at Citybus a big thank you for the generosity they have shown by donating this incredible amount and we look forward to working with them in the future.

"We really do rely on the support of the businesses within out catchment area – their valued support helps us to continue providing all of our wide ranging services free of charge to the local community."

St Luke's cares for more than 3,200 patients every year with a terminal illness.

This year the charity celebrates its 30th anniversary, having first opened its doors in 1982.
