MOD madness
I DO believe the MoD do not know what planet they are on. Their decisions could be decided better by children or even chimpanzees.
I read The Herald a couple of weeks ago and the MoD were on about making quite a lot of HM Forces redundant. I mean to say, how could they even consider throwing our lads (and ladies) on the scrap heap like a load of unwanted rubbish?
Being a veteran myself, I think the idea stinks. Our lads and ladies lead a rough time out in Iraq and Afghanistan and I speak from experience having served (or should I say survived) two tours of duty from 1959 - 1960 and 1966 - 1967. Now, here comes the really funny part. While watching my TV one night, a week or so after the MoD's remarks, lo and behold what comes up on the screen? An advertisement for Army recruiting.
But it does not end there, because a few days later it pops up again followed a bit later on by the RAF also asking for recruits. It beggars belief!

It may be a better idea if the MoD got things in perspective instead of worrying about how much pension they will receive on their retirement.

“I used to think the MOD were just a couple of hundred people in that building in London, but then i found out there are 80,000 all over the country!
The cost in teabags must be enormous so the sooner they're thinned out the better”

“We've probably still got more admirals than warships. The culling needs to be done at the senior officer end and MOD desk drivers before the other ranks.”

“The armed forces have a high turnover rate, particularly in the lower ranks. They need to keep a constant influx of new recruits to build up skills that are actually used on the ground. If they froze recruitment instead of making people redundant they would end up with very few privates and too many CO's”
