ENTREPRENEURS and executives helped training provider Cornwall College Business celebrate its first birthday in the city by attending a conference.

CCB opened its meeting and conference facilities in Plymouth's Mayflower Street a year ago and has since hosted hundreds of meetings, courses and business people.

And 40 business figures attended a specifically designed half-day leadership and management conference that also celebrated the one year anniversary.

The conference was delivered by CCB's Plymouth-based leadership team, whose real-life industry experience informed the development of workshops, including those on "managing change", "service improvement through enhanced efficiency" and "the impact of leadership styles on performance".

Business owners, senior managers and team leaders heard a speech from Stephen Towers, resort director at golf and leisure resort St Mellion International, about his experiences of leadership and management training, before taking part in workshops.

Matthew Miller, from estate agents Miller and Son, was among businessmen at the event and said: "I felt it was important to meet some of the teachers and coaches at Cornwall College Business."

Dave Linnell, principal and chief executive of Cornwall College, said: "The conference was an excellent way for CCB to celebrate the first anniversary of The Business Space facilities opening in Plymouth.

"We have enjoyed a fantastic response to the courses, apprenticeships and training now provided from the centre as well as within local businesses and are delighted to have had the opportunity to invite more business people to celebrate with us."

Event delegates also enjoyed a specially baked Business Space birthday cake.
