Man dies after crash involving Saltash van driver

A man has died in an accident which involved a van driver from Saltash.

Steven Tolley, 48, from Tiverton, was critically injured in a collision in Tiverton on January 29 and died in Derriford Hospital last night.

His next of kin have been informed.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive are conducting an investigation into the collision.

Officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision and would particularly like to speak to those who saw the Iveco van in the area at the time or how and where the men were working in the road.

Witnesses are urged to contact MPC Chris Wright at Exeter Serious Collisions Investigation Unit by calling 101, quoting log number 208 29/01/13.

Three casualties were injured in the incident. The two more seriously injured – both in their 40s - were taken to hospital - one was taken to Derriford, and one to the RD&E.

The third man was described as walking wounded.

The 43-year-old male driver of the van, from Saltash. was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken to Heavitree Road in Exeter.

The collision involved a van and men working on the carriageway.
