Man to face trial accused of raping girl under 16

A MAN accused of raping a girl aged under 16 is to face trial next year.

Scott Hayes, aged 37, is charged with the rape of the girl between January 1, 2007 and January 1, 2008. He also faces a second charge, covering the same offence on the same female. Appearing in a black suit, white shirt and dark tie at Plymouth Crown Court, Hayes pleaded not guilty to the charges. He has previously given his address as Signals Platoon, the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster, Wiltshire. Hayes was released on unconditional bail. He will next appear at the three-day trial on February 27, 2013.
