A MAN pushed a stranger through the window of a pub toilet, a court heard.

Jake Cooper, 25, shoved James Carter so that he smashed into the glass, badly cutting his head, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

Cooper, of Cleeve Drive, Ivybridge, denies maliciously wounding Mr Carter on December 23, 2011 in a town pub.

He told a jury Mr Carter had confronted him aggressively but he did not push him – instead they stumbled and both fell through the window of The Exchange.

Mr Carter told the jury he had drunk eight or nine pints and could not recall the incident.

Cooper, giving evidence, said Mr Carter tried to move him aside as he left the pub toilets.

"He stumbles and takes us both through the window," he added. "I did not push him through the window."

The trial continues.
