A MAN is to appear in a court accused of intending to meet and have sex with a 13-year-old girl he had allegedly groomed online.

The 23-year-old man from the London area is to appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court charged with attempting to meet a girl aged under 16-years-old following a sexual grooming.

Police arrested him at 1.30pm on Thursday at Plymouth Railway Station. Officers from the Force Child Exploitation Unit instigated the arrest.

He is in custody at Charles Cross Police Station — and is to remain in custody overnight before his appearance in court.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

Police said it is suspected that he attended the location by train from London in a bid to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex.
