Man trapped after crash at A38 petrol station
A DRIVER had to be cut free from his car after crash at a service station on the A38 early on Sunday morning.
Three fire crews were sent to the Shell Carew petrol station at South Brent at 12.40am.

A driver, from Plymouth, was trapped in his Ford Fiesta after colliding with a fence and a wall on the petrol station forecourt.
Crews from Ivybridge, Modbury and Buckfastleigh were mobilised, and the man was cut free using hydraulic equipment.
Last weekend a man died at the service station after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
In August a woman driver ploughed her car into the service station shop.
The man was taken to Derriford Hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious. The service station is open as normal.
Later this morning there was a four-car crash on the A38 at Bittaford.
A Peugeot Expert taxi, a Renault Clio and a Fiat Seicento, along with another unidentified vehicle, were in collision on the Plymouth-bound carriageway at Bittaford near Ivybridge.
Police described the conditions at the time as ‘horrendous’, with large amounts of surface water on the road.
There were no serious injuries.
Crews from Ivybridge and Buckfastleigh were sent at 1.30am to help clear debris from the carriageway and make the scene safe.

“Can the Herald provide an area of it's web site for ranting about bad driving and accidents please?
I've just seen a motorcyclist heading towards Elburton undertake a van by using the cycle lane approaching Zebra crossing by the Mini Garage and Fairway Furniture.
It's dark and raining and you want to complicate matters by passing up the nearside of a van as it approaches a Zebra crossing on a left hand bend??
So their visibility of anyone using the crossing wouldn't have been hampered by a van on their RHS side then?”

“Wow a Herald article about a crash and not a single use of the word "horror". Something is amiss.”

“It is usually numpty drivers.
Last Weds evening a Range Rover came close up behind me as I was passing the inside lane at about 75 mph. It was dark, wet, but light traffic.
I passed the slower cars and pulled in and the vehicle then shot off up to the back of the ones in front of me, despite them being in a train behind a van passing a lorry. After managing to bully them out of the way, it then cut off to Ivybridge, having gained about 200 yards on me between Deep Lane and Ivybridge.
The Range Rover should be easy to spot, it was reg no WA04NWM, and was bright blue, red, and yellow, with the word "POLICE" on the back in big letters.”

“I really think the Highways department should take a look at this filling station.Every day there are near misses where traffic is pulling out of the station into the path of fast moving A38 traffic on a junction
leadind to South Brent. The safest option would be to send filling station traffic down the South Brent road take a left back A38 to junction over A38 and rejoin A38 from a safer juntion. As far as these people having stupid accidents in the filling station maybe it would be a good idea to slow them down as they come in as i have seen motorists comming in at about 50 miles an hour.”
