Meeting opposes incinerator proposal
A CAMPAIGN group battling plans for a waste plant in Ernesettle is urging local residents to have their say over the proposals.
More than 60 residents from Plymouth and South East Cornwall, and MP Alison Seabeck, attended a meeting held by STIFLE (Stop the Incinerator Fouling Land at Ernesettle).
Members called on the public to voice their opinions at consultation events being held by the South West Devon Waste Partnership. The partnership, comprising Plymouth, Torbay and Devon County councils, is commissioning a new plant to handle all waste from Plymouth, Torbay and South Devon. Three shortlisted companies have come up with different plans at Ernesettle, Devonport's North and South Yards, and New England Quarry near Lee Mill.
Geraldine Lane, STIFLE chair, said: "All Plymouth residents should be concerned about the partnership's plans for waste management; there are many possible solutions which don't appear to have been considered. This is an opportunity to talk to the partnership and raise any concerns you may have."
The first roadshow event is to take place on November 9 from 5pm to 8pm at Ernesettle Community School, Biggin Hill.

“Sarah of Saltash, I think that you may be right. PCC will have no thought for the view of Plymouth from Kit Hill, Carradon Hill, or the Princetown car park area where this incineration plant would look like an appauling carbuncle on the landscape!”

“When will they learn. Don't put such things near a river as WHEN they seap waste liquids into the Tamar, it will be another enquiry into a ruined river.
STOP IT NOW!!!!!!!!”
