PLYMOUTH Argyle have signed versatile 31-year-old midfielder Mark Molesley on loan from League One outfit Bournemouth, writes Chris Errington.

He is set to train with the Pilgrims' squad for the first time tomorrow, ahead of the home game against Chesterfield on Saturday.

Molesley's move was completed shortly before the Football League's 5pm deadline today for 'emergency loan' signings and will cover the period up to and including the away game against Accrington Stanley on December 22.

He will be eligible to play for Argyle in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last 16 tie against Oxford United at Home Park on December 4.

Molesley, who will wear the number 30 shirt for the Pilgrims, has not played for Bournemouth this season because of an Achilles injury.

However, Cherries' boss Eddie Howe - a long-time friend of Argyle manager Carl Fletcher - recently spoke of his admiration for Molesley.

Howe said: "He hasn't had a lot of football recently as everybody knows. We are pleased with him. He remains part of our squad and a big part of our squad.

"I am open to a loan spell with Mark. I think he needs to go and get football and I have had that conversation with him."

Molesley had a loan spell with Aldershot Town at the end of last season and played as a substitute for them in a 1-0 defeat by Argyle at Home Park on Easter Monday.

“No Stikers then? Just a Midfielder who has played most of his career in non-league and been injured this season. Great. Was he a Fireman too?”
