Mystery picture
THANKS to Graham Brooks of Eggbuckland for this wonderful period piece.
Graham, the recently retired chairman of the Plymouth Postcard Collectors' Club, was trying to place the image and but was unsure of the location.

The water to the left of the couple on the bicycle built for two is clearly a major clue, as indeed are the two Plymouth crests – one above the door and the other on the boundary stone to the left of the children.
Clearly, then, this is a Plymouth building, but it's not on the Hoe or the Barbican. Neither is it in Stonehouse or Devonport as it pre-dates the amalgamation. So how about the Embankment? Is that Saltram behind the tandem couple and is this the old toll house at the Laira end of the Embankment?
