THE identities of the individuals investing in Plymouth Argyle with a loan to the club has been revealed by a national newspaper.

Writing in the Digger column, The Guardian has unveiled a list of names of 'high-net-worth individuals' behind the loan to Plymouth Argyle, administered through Mastpoint.

Mastpoint is supporting the club with a seven-figure loan from a number of investors, some of whose names are revaled in The Guardian today.

The list includes bankers Bernard Taylor, Russell Chambers, David Rowe and Richard Metcalf as well as Rob Lucas, managing partner at CVC Capital Partners.

Larry Hirst, the chairman of IBM Europe, and Eddie O'Connor, the founder of Mainstream Renewable Energy are also on the list with Donald McGarva, the head of DHL Asia's logistics operation, insurance magnates Peter Wood and Joe Plumeri and PR executive Roland Rudd.

“Sadly it is obvious that the present board and shareholders have no interest in Plymouth Argyle FC. Other than buying their shares they have not invested any real money in the team. Any money going into the club is interest bearing loans to pay of debts; it does not bode well for Plymouth Argyle FC. All this board are interested in is the profits to be made from owning the ground and the property speculation that will bring them rich rewards. The way it is all going we will end up in the conference league. Paul Stapleton you should hang your head in shame selling the club short. To such a rabble”

“COYG, I do not believe Sir Roy Gardener was brought into Man Utd for 'Christs sake'. I believe a lot of other people will agree with me - You obviously do not know what you are talking about. It's like saying Peter Reid was appointed the new manager of Argyle to save mankind - Utter rubbish.”

“To get up to the premiership we first need some decent footballers, time some money was spent to get them down this part of the country, and give the loyal fans have something to celebrate.”

“All PAFC Fans want is a successful club and a good manager. We have the manager but I just wish the so called 'backers' would come clean and state exactly what the future holds for Plymouth. 5 years to get to the Premiership, not at this rate. If that is the case why all the cutbacks when there is supposed to be all the money in the pot.

Just a last point, I haven't heard much from the foreign investors nor the 'International' players that are supposed to be arriving at PAFC.

Yes I am an Argyle fan and have been for 60 years.”

“Josh, have you read how Sir Roy sold out Manchester United? If not I suggest you do your homework and you'll see that Sir Roy isn't exactly a favourite of the Manchester United fans.

Unfortunately Josh, if we're wound up it'll be too late for you to eat your words.

Who paid for the pitch, the club or the Holding Company that will soon be owning the stadium, including the pitch?”
