Ben Webster, 25, who also works for Macwhirter Western and was shortlisted as a top ten finalist, was 'highly commended'.
All three students, who are undertaking a level 3 qualification in refrigeration at the college, were nominated by their lecturer Andy Channon for their 'outstanding NVQ portfolio' and the 'dedication they have shown towards the industry'.
Andy Channon said: "The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Student of the Year Awards is the most prestigious award that a student can be entered for in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade.
"We are therefore delighted that three of our students were shortlisted for the top ten.
"This is an amazing feat in itself – so to come away with the winner and third place is absolutely amazing."
