New Italian restaurant opens in renovated inn
A NEW restaurant and bar has opened up offering Italian food at a 16th century inn which underwent a year's renovation works.
The Pickwick Inn, in St Anns Chapel, has been launched by Ed Steven from Ormond Hospitality Group (OHG Ltd) and offers fresh seasonal produce, and an extensive range of wine, beer and ales.

CELEBRATION: Danny Grace, Bryan Carson and Ed Steven
The Plymouth based restaurateur, who also runs the Glassblowing House Restaurant on the Barbican, invested £500,000 into the business and set-off the venue with an open evening treating local customers to canapes.
During the evening he took the opportunity to thank everyone who had got behind the vision for the project.

He said: "We really appreciate the level of support we've received from the community and for us it's all about the community. We could not have asked for better support, with the community physically helping in the build and people standing by us through the noise, dust, rain, mud and more rain."
The night was extra special for two guests, Danny Grace and Bryan Carson – chairman of South Hams District Council and ward member for Bigbury – who celebrated and shared their birthday with The Pickwick Inn.
Ed Steven added: "We are hoping to attract a year round local custom and recognise that to become a genuine regular, as opposed to a special occasion, venue, we aim to offer great value for money all year round. Our menu, along with the food and drinks pricing strategy, achieves just that."
He said the menu offered classic and popular Italian dishes, but in a modern setting offering a takeaway option to customers too. Ed said one of his aims was to create the "very best" pizzas in the area using a speciality Italian pizza oven.
The Pickwick Inn, is open Monday to Friday midday – 2.30pm / 5.30pm – 11pm.
Saturday and Sunday 12 noon – 11pm, Saturday and Sunday lunch is served 12-4pm.
