A WOMAN was sexually assaulted as she walked through town early on New Year's Day, police today revealed.

Police in Liskeard are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted.

The incident took place at around 1.30am on New Year's Day. The victim was a woman in her 30s.

The woman was walking through the Cattle Market Car Park, into Varley Lane and past Bowling Green Court at the time of the incident.

As she approached the cut through which leads into Lanchard Road, she felt a push to the back of her head and was threatened by a man. She also felt her dress being pulled up from behind.

She turned and ran but sustained whiplash injuries as a result of being pushed in the back of her head.

The man is said to have had a Cornish accent.
