New artwork unveiled on campus at Plymouth University
Plymouth University has unveiled a new artwork on campus that symbolically ties into Plymouth's past.
The artwork, a sculpture called Arrival and Departure, is placed on James Square and was created by Ian McChesney, of McChesney Architects.
"The piece is about journeys and Plymouth's rich history of travel. I have chosen the bollard shape of the piece, because they are the last thing you touch when setting off to sea and the first thing you touch when you return," he said.
Arrival and Departure consists of two opposing stone nautical bollards. The stone for the sculpture is granite sourced from the De Lank Quarry on Bodmin Moor.
