Three boards with information about science and history in Plymouth could be installed on Plymouth Hoe.

The Marine Biological Association has submitted plans for three boards on and around it's driveway at the city's seafront.

The boards, which would be A0 in size and a metre off the ground, would have writing, photographs and graphics giving information about the MBA organisation, the building, the Blitz in Plymouth, scientific research in Plymouth Sound and the old Plymouth Aquarium.

The project is being funded by the National Lottery and the boards, described as heritage lecterns, would be installed in May this year - staying in place until November 2015.

    “This information is very welcome.
May I make a plea for reasonable durability, and particularly of the script.
Several items have appeared on the Hoe over the years.
The lettering is vulnerable to weathering, sometimes losing its distinctiveness against its background and becoming unreadable.
Nothing lasts forever, but may it look as though the inscription was given thought.
Various examples spring to mind on the west end of the Hoe, and also the walk in the Mount Wise area with the viewing platform.”
