AT A time when the city is short of cash for road repairs can the council please explain, in the interest of transparency, why we now have a new traffic island at the Blue Monkey to support a bolt down sign.

The sign would have been happy just to be bolted to the normal road surface.

Could we have a reason for the sign after all these years and an indication of what the exercise cost?

“with respect to norman wyman, this island has been put there because a number of accidents caused by some idiots on motor bikes who think the hachings going up crown hill road is a personal road solely for them to over take cars waiting at the traffic lights. in the last year alone there has been several near misses and two bike riders put in hospital, what these people forget is there is an opening in the central reservation allowing cars to turn right off the green, and under the highway code are aloud to move into that gap until the oncoming traffic alllows the car to move into the road, but even with the new island there there was a near miss tonight as a bike rider desided it would be fun to try and beat the car. i for one thank plymouth city council for putting it there as i am one of those near misses. steve davies”
