WYCOMBE dropped to 19th position in League Two after losing 4-0 at Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day.

Wanderers were completely outplayed and did not have their first goal attempt on target until the 88th minute.

They had been in fine form before their visit to Whaddon Road, winning four of their previous five league games and drawing the other one.

That sequence of results started with an impressive 3-2 triumph at Rotherham United on November 20.

Wycombe are one position and two points above Argyle, who have played one more match than them.

Their home game against Bradford City last Saturday was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Player-manager Gareth Ainsworth (right) remained positive despite the defeat by Cheltenham.

He said: "We have done really well lately and we can't win every game. It has brought us back down to earth.

"We had three second-year apprentices on the pitch at the end. I'm still buzzing about the way we are and the way we do things.

"I'm still confident we can go to Plymouth and give them a game.

"There will be nobody down and there is plenty of passion in the dressing room."
