Old football strips donated to young players overseas
PLYMOUTH residents are being urged to dig out old football kits and donate them to charity.
House building company Taylor Wimpey Exeter is collecting old football shirts, shorts, boots and shin pads on behalf of KitAid.
KitAid collects and sends unwanted kit to underprivileged football fans in over 30 countries.
The charity has sent out over 150,000 kits to children and adults worldwide.
Regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, Janine Davey, said: "We're taking this opportunity to appeal to local people to consider donating their old kit to a really worthy cause.
"Simply give it a wash and drop it off at one of our Plymouth developments and we'll do the rest."
KitAid's founder, Derrick Williams MBE, said: "We're delighted that Taylor Wimpey is working with us to give our campaign a real boost at the start of the new football season.
"We see first-hand the difference that these donations can make to young people in some of the poorest parts of the world and would like to thank the people of Plymouth in advance for getting involved."
Taylor Wimpey will be accepting donations at Boundary Place, The Limes at Warleigh Village, and Warleigh Village until the end of October.
