A YOUNG Saltash sailor was today expected to arrive in Ireland together with other Shetland Round Britain & Ireland competitors.

Olly Young and his racing partner Sam Goodchild are competing against nearly 60 other sailors in the epic 2,000-mile dash which left Plymouth on Sunday.

"We are very proud of his efforts," said Olly's father Dave.

"It's looking good so far and he and Sam are holding their own against the big names."

Meanwhile it has been revealed that a Millbrook-based boatyard has built half the multihull entries in this year's event.

Multimarine Composites Ltd is responsible for four out of eight of the multihulls taking part in the race.

Multimarine is the only licensed builders of Dazcat catamarans, designed by director Darren Newton.

Darren's business partner Simon Baker has also entered in his own boat, Dazcat 1150 Drama Queen.
