Olympic walker to visit city
A RACE walker who competed in five consecutive Olympic games will appear at the Life Centre.
Christopher Lloyd Maddocks is a retired race walker who competed in five consecutive Summer Olympics for Great Britain, the first being in 1984.
The 55-year-old became the first British track athlete to compete in five Olympic Games.
He retired from international competition after being injured in the 50 km race at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

“WHO? Come on people, don't all rush at once to buy a copy of his book now! Am I the only one who thinks 'walking races' are beyond ludicrous and a throwback to the Mickey Mouse events they used to have in the Olympics about 100 years ago? If they're going to chuck wrestling out of the Games then how on earth is this still in?”
