“@MissAnthrope, that made me chuckle I have a standing joke with a friend that Cornwall is a 3rd world county. Thank you for the laugh.”

“Perhaps the driver was unfamiliar with our archaic English measurements and did not know what 7 feet meant. However I am sure that the lorry owners are now regretting that they did not pay out the extra for an HGV satnav. Perhaps these should become mandatory for wide/high vehicles!
Anyway, if this is NEW Road, I dread to think what OLD Road will be like!”

“Anyway, of course it makes no sense to try and release the lorry in the middle of the night when you can't see what your doing. See what the light of day brings. As the story (dated today says) it happend very late last night. I guess they will retreive it shortly.”

“..'The Polish-registered lorry has been jammed'..
The driver should have been born long ago, a few like him would have soon blocked the roads to Hitlers panzers”

“Cut the lorry up, piece by piece, and bill the owner(s) for removing it.
Jail the idiot who drove the lorry down a lane clearly incapable of accommodating its size.”

“Unbelievable that he got as far as he did. Go on Google Street View and follow New Road staraight on past the Barracks, past the 7' width restriction sign, past the 7.5 ton limit sign, over the viaduct and to the T Junction where it is now stuck.”

“Poor bloke, he won't get home for Christmas now. It is easy to criticise this chap, but he is in a foreign country and probably does not have a map of minor roads. How would we get on, in a similar situation in Poland I wonder?”
