Pair rescued after kayak overturns on the River Tamar
TWO people had to be rescued from the water in Plymouth after their kayak overturned and floated away.
Police and coastguards rescued a man and a woman from the River Tamar at 5am today, Sunday.
The pair, both in the 20s and from Saltash, were clinging to a buoy, and the man needed treatment for the effects of submersion in cold water.
The man was taken to hospital after treatment at the scene by paramedics.

“Probably worth joining a club? Port of Plymouth is good http://tinyurl.com/cnopae2
Rule of three (boats) is quite good -
1st to capsize/get in to trouble
2nd to attempt a rescue
3rd stays back in case the rescue goes wrong (now 2 victims) and is needed to raise alarm”
