Parents' appeal to help Jessica, 14, buy torch
THE MOTHER of a Callington Community College student selected to carry the Olympic Torch is appealing for help to buy it.
Jessica Tait, 14, who lives in Albaston near Gunnislake, will hold the torch for part of a Devon leg between the Plymouth side of the Tamar Bridge and Plymouth Hoe.
Her mum, Tamsin, said: "She's very excited and very, very nervous. We've also just had the added pressure of being told we can buy the torch but it's £200 so over the holidays she's going to try and make the money. We would love donations. It's a lot of money but it's one of those things you can't turn down."
Her parents nominated her because of her community and charity work.
