Partner is cleared of benefit fraud charge
A MAN accused of aiding and abetting his partner in benefit fraud has been cleared by direction of a judge.
Judge Francis Gilbert QC ruled that Neil Hall was not guilty on both counts after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against him. Earlier Hall, aged 33 and of Cornwall Beach, Devonport, had denied aiding and abetting Carol Irving in failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions and Plymouth City Council of her change of circumstances while claiming income support and council tax and housing benefit.
She has already admitted that she failed to notify the authorities that she was living with Hall between August 2005 and June 2008.
Irving, aged 39 and of Wyndham Square, Stonehouse, will be sentenced on June 15.
