DARREN PURSE has agreed personal terms on a move to League Two title contenders Port Vale, Herald Sport can reveal.
The 35-year-old centre-back (pictured right) parted company with Plymouth Argyle by mutual consent yesterday.

Vale are expected to announce the signing of Purse, on a contract until the end of the season, on Monday.
Purse, who was appointed Argyle captain in the summer, has been on the transfer list since November.

Herald Sport understands the experienced defender came close to completing a move to Vale before the deadline for 'emergency loan' signings that same month. However, former Argyle manager Carl Fletcher could not come up with a suitable replacement at the time.
The Pilgrims are away to Vale today (3pm) with Purse not playing for either of the teams.
Vale manager Micky Adams will be without centre-back John McCombe for at least six weeks because of a medial knee ligament.
So Adams will be pleased to complete the capture of Purse to add to his defensive options.
Purse has agreed a contract settlement with Argyle which will save them a significant amount of money.
That can then be used by the Pilgrims' new boss – set to be John Sheridan – to add fresh faces to his squad. Argyle are facing a fight against relegation after winning only one of their last 13 league games. Purse signed for the Pilgrims, initially on loan, from Championship club Millwall in November 2011.
He then completed a permanent transfer at the start of the following January.
Purse, 36 next month, made 46 appearances for Argyle in all competitions and scored two goals.
