PLYMOUTH Argyle striker Nick Chadwick insists the club have enough talent to stay up.

But the 29-year-old hitman (right), who moved to the Pilgrims mid-season from Stockport, said the time for talking is over as the League Two strugglers need to get wins under their belt.

Chadwick, ahead of today's game at play-off hopefuls Accrington Stanley and a return to his native North West, told Herald Sport: "Every game's going to be tough, but we're in League Two and fighting for our lives.

"Barnet (who Argyle drew 0-0 with in midweek) were lower down in the table, but won their last four games before Tuesday.

"It's how you approach each game. You can approach it as though it's going to be tough, or you can approach it as an opportunity to get three points.

"I think we're in the position now where we need to approach games as an opportunity to get three points – that's the way I see it."

Chadwick, now in his second spell at Home Park, added: "It's just amazing when you hear people say they don't care whether they win or lose, because it has a direct impact on your Saturday night, your Sunday, your Monday, your Tuesday.

"If we don't win matches, it has a direct impact on your whole life, so we have to go out and win football matches.

"That means I'm happy, the football club's happy and Plymouth as a place is happy and there are a lot of people who are happy with us. That's a great feeling and that's what we try to achieve."

Chadwick is one of a group of experienced players Argyle have brought in to bolster a largely youthful side.

Others include defender Darren Purse and Paul Wotton, who is helping to shore up the team's midfield.

Chadwick said: "I hope it's the difference, but it's probably up to others to judge the difference we really make.

"People say there's been a massive improvement in recent weeks and it feels like we've got a side with the mentality that we don't want to get beaten.

"I think the club probably hasn't had that for the last couple of years, so it's been accepted as the norm to not win football matches.

"To the likes of myself, Wottsie (Wotton) and Pursey (Purse), that's not the norm and that won't be accepted.

"Not winning, especially at home, will really not be tolerated. We want to win matches.

"That's my mentality, and that's Wottsie's and Pursey's, so hopefully the young lads can look at us and think, 'They've played at a higher level' and look at the way we go about things and want to draw from that."

Chadwick said the experienced players still at Home Park after last season's relegation from League One had done a fantastic job, but 'probably needed help, because it's not been easy for the experienced lads in recent years'.

"If a few experienced players have come in and given the place a bit of a lift, then that's probably helped, but as I say, that's for other people to judge. We need to go about our business, whether we're 21 or 29."

Chadwick said he believed the team could win their fight to escape the slide out of the Football League.

He said: "I honestly believe we can stay up. You look at the start of the season and it was pretty horrific.

"We haven't had easy games of late and we have performed well and yeah, everyone knows we need more wins and that's what we have to strive to achieve, but we have got to be positive off the back of what we've done in recent months.

"I think it was easy, three or four months ago; it was easy for Plymouth Argyle to be bottom and almost forgotten about and everyone almost gave up on us.

"That's certainly not the case now – we have got ourselves to third bottom and we are fighting and scrapping for every point.

"There's more than enough in that dressing room to see us through, but we have got to win games and the time for talking has gone.

"We've got to start doing it and the heart and desire in that dressing room will see us through."

“4-0 is the result that does all the talking. And sg should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. We don't want people on here who make comments like that last one at 2.11p.m.”

“'Nick Chadwick says the time for talk is over'... and then gives us 8 minutes of spiel !!!!

Talking needs to be done on the pitch now... Sleeves rolled up with hearts being worn on them, bring 3 points home from the Stanley and we could still be in with a shout....

By the way sensible, do you believe that curses can be put on peoples families ? No, good.... keep on posting then my good friend......”

“Can't disagree with what Nick. Chadwick said, but sometimes there's a big difference between "say" and "do".
We've been told by the manager that there's a lot of buzz in the dressing room, so it urgently needs to be transferred to the pitch. I would far rather see the team play with flair and passion rather than to the F.A. coaching manual. It hasn't got us too far up the league so far this season.
