Plymouth Argyle striker Nick's lesson for school club
YOUNGSTERS attending a new after-school football club set up by a parent received training from Plymouth Argyle striker Nick Chadwick.
Parent Paul Giles, aged 41, of Estover, came up with the idea of the club as part of his teacher training course.
And thanks to Paul and teacher Mrs Doyle, wannabe footballers of Tor Bridge Primary School now have the opportunity of learning about the popular sport.
"I'm at university training to be a teacher so I need to do as much work as I can each week for my course," said Paul. "It helps with the experience and I've been involved with football all my life. Mrs Doyle organises after-school clubs and has been really supportive – without her it wouldn't have happened."

His son DJ, aged six, attends the primary school and takes part in the club and Paul's daughter, Jordan, aged 14, helps out.
Paul added: "I organised a sponsor and managed to buy 20 shirts but the sponsor pulled out so I've had to pay out of my own money.
"Nick from Argyle, kindly helped out by getting a ball, given to me by Hoppy's, signed by the team, which I am hoping to auction to try and get some of the money back.
"The club is going really, really, well and Nick taught the pupils some really useful stuff."
The free club is run on Thursdays between 3pm and 4pm with around 22 youngsters aged five to nine (Years 1, 2 and 3) taking part.
"We are trying to teach them about football rather than just running around kicking a ball," added Paul. "There is a quiz at the end of each session to keep it educational as well as fun."

“There is nothing Chadwick could teach theses kids that would make them better players - he's just about the worst player ever to have worn an Argyle shirt and calling him a striker is bordering on a trades description infirngement!”
