PLYMOUTH Argyle's FA Cup first round tie away to Dorchester Town next month could turn out to be a profitable one for them.

Not only is there £18,000 prize money for the winners, the match will be screened live on ESPN on Sunday, November 4 (4.30pm).

That means both clubs will receive a broadcast fee, as well as their share of the gate receipts from what is set to be a sell-out crowd.

It is the second consecutive season Argyle have had a FA Cup tie chosen for live TV coverage by ESPN.

Their 2-0 first round replay defeat away to West Midlands part-timers Stourbridge was broadcast by ESPN last November.

Dorchester have already won three FA Cup ties this season to reach the first round proper.

They are currently in fourth position in the Football Conference South so the Magpies will not be short on confidence against Argyle.

The Pilgrims, for their part, will be anxious to avoid a repeat of their defeat by Stourbridge.

An ESPN spokesman told Herald Sport: "We really go to town on these matches. Our set is actually at the game not in a studio hundreds of miles away."

In the past, they have carried out in-match interviews and had cameras in the dressing rooms.

Argyle have been allocated nearly 150 tickets in the only seated stand at the Avenue Stadium, and more than 2,100 terrace spaces.

The admission prices are £15 for the seated stand (no concessions) while on the terraces it is £10 for adults, £6.50 for 65-plus and £5 for under-18s.

The match is not all-ticket so supporters will be able to pay on the day of the match.

However, to assist Dorchester matchday operation, Argyle are encouraging their fans to buy tickets in advance.

Tickets will go on sale to Argyle members tomorrow at 9am.

They will then be available for general sale from 9am on Monday, October 29. Contact the Argyle box office (telephone 0845 872 3335).

With Argyle playing on November 4, their League Two game against Burton Albion at Home Park has been put back by 24 hours.

It will now be played on Wednesday, November 7 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Argyle's trip to Dorchester will be one of three FA Cup first round ties broadcast live on TV.

ESPN will screen Cambridge City's home game against Milton Keynes Dons on Friday, November 2 (7.30pm).

ITV1 will also cover Tranmere Rovers' visit to Braintree Town on November 4 (12.30pm).

Andrew Hornett, ESPN senior executive producer, said: "We're excited to bring fans some great fixtures from the first round of the FA Cup.

"This is the true grassroots of football in England. Both of our games have great potential for an upset and the stakes are high.

"It's set to be the start of another great year of the FA Cup on ESPN."

ESPN will broadcast 25 live and exclusive FA Cup matches this season, from the first round through to the final.

“Lets hope we avoid the potential banana skin and get the £18k win bonus, that along with the TV and share of the gate money, should result in a nice contribution to the staff who are owed wages from the administration when thier loyalty was outstanding. With Christmas looming it would be a nice touch, seeing that they went without last time round.”
