Plymouth City Council Overview and Scrutiny Management Board has heard how millions need to be cut from authority budgets in the city - including by Plymouth City Council and Derriford Hospital.

The Council has to cut £17million from its budget, while Derriford Hospital is saving £22million this year and £27million next year - and says it is having trouble recruiting nurses.
The £27million equates to 7% of turnover.

Devon and Somerset fire service faces a 17% cut over two years - a loss of £5.5million.
Devon and Cornwall Police this morning told the panel they are to focus resource on tackling sexual crimes after an 11% increase in reports.

“So if PCC spends 10% of it's staffing bill in Temps what proportion of the workforce do they make up. Agency fee can be anything up to 30% of employees wages.Also good to see there is no unemployment in Plymouth that agency staff have to be used!”

“Plymouth City Council has over £50Million in reserves so need to increase Council Tax this year or make cuts to services, use the reserves that is what they are there for According to Eric Pickles ALL Councils have massive reserves they refuse to use, WHY?”
